Classes

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dance. It is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. Each class begins with a ballet barre, moves to a center floor adage, petite and grand allegro, and concludes with a formal grand reverence. Students will learn terminology in French, correct body alignment, and how to improve their natural turn-out. We offer ballet classes for advanced students, as well as our littlest 3 year olds. It is an important classic, elegant style for all ages.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz techniques. Lyrical dance challenges dancers to express their emotions through movement and to interpret the music. A lyrical dancer’s movements attempt to show the meaning of the music's lyrics while telling a story with their body. Lyrical is an expressive, fluid dance style that is one of our most popular classes.

Jazz

Jazz is an energetic dance form honoring contemporary pop culture. It’s focused on syncopated rhythm and technique, and is a fun, upbeat style for all ages. Expect a high energy class that includes a full stretch, isolation work, across the floor and fun combos.

Modern / Contemporary

This style of dance incorporates lyrical, ballet and jazz. This expressive modern dance style emphasizes creativity in choreography and performance. Dancers in this class strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements, and it often allows more freedom of expression and improvisation.

Acro

"Acro" stands for Acrobatics and is a gymnastics class with mats and other mat-based equipment. Arco classes focus on increasing flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. Dancers work on developing fundamental acrobatic technique, and skills such as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, aerials, back handsprings, etc., along with balance and contortion tricks. No experience is necessary for this class and it is offered for dancers aged 5 and up.

Hip Hop

Hip-hop is a style of dance that evolved from hip-hop culture and our classes mix funk and street dance styles to create fun choreography and freestyle movement. Expect to sweat, smile, and fall in love with this style after your first class!

Tap

Tap dancers wear special shoes with metal taps on the soles that allow them to create their own drum-like rhythmic patterns and sound while they dance. This classic style blends coordination and rhythm into one of the most fun and timeless dance forms and anyone can have a blast in this class!

Stretch/Conditioning

This class is designed to improve a dancer’s range of motion, enhance muscle flexibility and increase their level of core, leg, and upper body muscle strength. It includes a variety of stretches and strengthening exercises, such as yoga, cardiovascular conditioning, body weight only exercises and even band and ankle weighted exercises.

Leaps & Turns

This is an across-the-floor progressions class to focus on a dancer's technique and height in all forms of different leaps and proper alignment and skills for all forms of different turns.
